Moonrise Kingdom

So I finally managed to escape to the cinema to watch Wes Anderson’s new film ‘Moonrise Kingdom’, the story of a pair of young lovers who flee their New England town, and the local search party who find them.

He’s only done it again! I can’t get over how human and organic the movie feels, the jokes are so embedded in the movie it doesn’t seem scripted, the grade is so beautifully pastel, the mise en scène exquisite.

There is, similar in the work of Edgar Wright, a uniting style in all his film, comparable to the great auteurs (Hitchcock, Renoir, Lynch etc), for example his use of comedy in long drawn out moments, his use of extreme wide shots, repetition of themes (they dress in fox suits, similar to Fantastic Mr Fox) and style of handwriting and animation.

I’m having to restrain myself from going through the entire story in this blog, picking out my favourite moments and highlighting the true beauty of every shot, I’ll just have to finish with a MASSIVE 10/10 and an urge for you all to run to the cinema with as many people as you can find to witness this awesome spectacle.
